GALATA TOWER

GALATA TOWER Galata section had taken its real shape while it is under ruling of Genoese. Byzantine emperors had allocate this area as an independent colony after captured again by Constantinopolis' in 13th century from Latin people. Although enlarging of and separating from Byzantine of this section was forbidden, Genoese people enlarged their areas and constructed a city wall in order to increase the safety of the city. This tower has been built as a part of the plans. It was used as prison and fire observing tower in Ottoman Empire era. Currently there is a good balcony having a good scene.
