GOLDEN HORN
This natural port called as ‘’Haliç’’ by local people is the indent of Marmara region to land section. It is located in Europe part of Istanbul that’s between historical peninsula which is the old city and modern city. This arm of the sea has been called as ‘’Golden Horn’’ till the antic era. This name is believed to be come from similarity of its shape to horn and waters taking the golden color at sunset. Its length is 11 km, depth is 40 m and its widest point is 800 m. For many centuries there have been palaces and repaired wide gardens along its coasts.
