MAIDEN’S TOWER
Maiden’s Tower located at 180 m distance from Asia shore of Bosporus is one of the most attractive historical artifacts of the city. It determines the border of Marmara sea and Bosporus. Its first form is a small castle constructed on a natural stone in order to be used as a customs station. Its current form comes from 18th century. The name of Maiden’s Tower dates back an old legend. A Padishah had a daughter who was foretold to dead with snake bite. Padishah have this tower built to protect his daughter and hides here daughter here. But daughter of Padishah is bite by a snake hidden in a fruit basket brought secretly to the tower and she dies.
