SÜLEYMANİYE MOSQUE
Süleymaniye Mosque is a very significant historical symbol more than mosque for Turkish people. Süleymaniye is not only a mosque but it is great complex with academy, caravansary, hospital, library, cook house for poor people and Turkish Bath. Süleymaniye which symbolize the power of Ottoman Empire had taken its name from Kanuni Sultan Süleyman (Wonderful Süleyman) who had it constructed. The mosque which was constructed by Koca Mimar Sinan who is the most famous architecture of Ottoman between the years 1550-1557 is the biggest mosque of Istanbul. Sultan Süleyman, his spouse Hürrem Sultan (Roxelana) and Mimar Sinan lie in their tombs in Süleymaniye complex. .
